Enchanted Doll Artists Conference
Pin Doll Swap 2008
Do you love Pin Dolls?
Do you love to swap?
What is a pin doll? Answering this question is a crucial part of the presenting this swap...many folks already know what a pin doll is and I suspect there are others who were like I was when I first heard the term. I'd never attended a doll club meeting, a class or even read a magazine and I really didn't know what a pin doll was. I thought about the large dolls that I'd been making and knew they were in no way something to be used as a pin. I couldn't figure out how on earth to make a tiny doll to use as a pin. When I first saw pin dolls, I was amazed! They are everything from detailed dragons to starfish; from Raggedies to clowns' from fish to flower faces. In other words, a pin doll is exactly what it sounds like...a small figure that can be worn as a pin.

Now that I’ve answered the question of what a pin doll is, let’s talk about the swap. We’ll be trading for the fun and the memories of EDAC and everyone is welcome!
When you choose to participate in this swap, remember that all skills will be represented . . . from doll artists with their first attempts to doll artists who have been creating dolls for many years. There is such joy in attaching a name to a pin doll . . . and to seeing the growth of all of us as our skills mature and grow. When someone comments on a pin I’m wearing, I immediately think of who made that doll, and smile remembering some of the times we’ve shared at conferences or email or in classes.
Each pin doll is important – from the more simple first attempts to the more complicated experienced dolls . . . because they represent a friend in the world of doll artistry!
So, with that necessary disclaimer – come and join the fun!! Participate in the EDAC Pin Doll Swap!!!
Open to all skill levels- beginners and experienced doll artists
Bring 1 to 5 pin dolls (may be all the same or different)
All pin dolls will be gift wrapped, or in a gift bag, with an attached card with the doll maker’s and pattern designer’s names. (Example: Butterfly made by Suzy Butler; designer Ute Vasina)
All pins that are identical must be wrapped identically
Place pin dolls in a zip lock bag with a card with doll artist’s name and number of pin dolls to trade
Pins will be distributed randomly and bags refilled with the same number of dolls. Then we will all get together so we can unwrap our pin dolls together.
No one will know how wonderful the pin dolls are until the unwrapping party - Christmas in July!
Our goal in presenting this opportunity is for everyone who chooses to participate to have fun, and to make new friends. That’s why this is open to all participants – teachers, oldies, and newbies!! No judging, no anxiety like the challenge dolls – just playing dolls with your new friends!!
Pin dolls must be turned in to me by Friday morning . . . it will take us some time to get ready to distribute them to their new owners. Then - the fun - SATURDAY 7:00 pm - when we will get together to open our new pin dolls together!
Hugs to all, and start sewing!! Please contact me with any questions!!
