Goodie Bag Swap

While we play dolls in New Mexico, we also love to acquire more goodies for our stash! After all, what self-respecting doll artist doesn’t have a stash - wonderful fabric, embellishments, all those items we can’t bear to part with, and keep on obtaining! So we’ve arranged to do a Goodie Bag Swap during the 2008 Enchanted Doll Artists Conference. It’s a great way to meet someone new, to enhance your stash, and to have fun socializing!
Anyone can participate - the "rules" are simple. Basically, you will bring ONE BAG full of goodies to swap while we are in New Mexico.
The bag should only include good quality items - you know, "give unto others as you would have them give unto you". Things can come from your stash as long as it is something that someone else would LOVE to receive. The bag could be a gift bag from the store, a basket you’ve put together, a bag you’ve made - let your imagination soar!
The theme for this swap is "Mirror, Mirror" . . .
Bags must include - (at a minimum.....minimum??? GO OVERBOARD and let's "fill it to the MAX"!!) -
- Three or more 1/2 yard pieces of good fabric OR Six fat quarters of good fabric
- Two 1/4 yard pieces of fancy "accent" fabric (metallic, velvet, fur, silk, something really special)
- At least 5 yards of assorted trims (i.e. ribbon, lace, fringe, trim)
- At least one NICE, NEW cloth doll pattern to go with the theme (you may include other patterns that are not necessarily cloth dolls if you wish, but must have at least one pattern for a cloth doll - nothing is wrong with commercial patterns like Simplicity or McCalls - but again, include a pattern that could be considered unique and different!)
- One handful of embellishments (such as ribbon roses, polymer clay critters, or accessories)
- Nice doll hair, at least enough for one doll
One special gift from you to the person you exchange bags with - it could be a pin doll made by you or a unique pin, a t-shirt or cap from your state - something you would enjoy receiving
AND.....
At least five or more surprises to go with the theme (think about all your doll making "stuff" that makes you think of magic & enchantment...YES, that's the kind of surprises we're talking about....you've got it!!)

Anything else you want to add!
Please include your name and e-mail address on a card or tag to be included in or on the bag.
We will be collecting the Goodie Bags at the check-in desk on Thursday afternoon or during Thursday evening activities. We'll make an announcement during Thursday night's activities where the Goodie Bag Swap will take place. We usually exchange them before Sunday’s classes. Now, this may change as the Conference gets closer – we’ll certainly keep you informed!
The "Goodie Bag Gals" will check the bags to be sure they contain the minimum requirements because we want everyone treated fairly – and
our goal is for everyone to leave the exchange with a smile – some new treasures – and most importantly, a new friend! If you are coming with a friend, or have put your bag together with another person, please note that so we don’t assign you to a bag whose contents wouldn’t be a surprise. After all, much of the fun is being delighted by the items you receive! Bags that do not meet the minimum requirements will be returned to their owner for their own enjoyment.See you soon – time will fly until we meet in Albuquerque - and greet old friends and hug new ones.
