Two Day Workshop: Lady Peacock

Class Duration:  Two Days 
Skill Level: Some Experience with the medium and/or technique

Sewing machines required

Class Kit Fee $20

Lady Peacock Class Description:  

In this class, we will focus on making the costume. Students come to class with a finished simple doll/ mannequin (pattern provided), and together we will paint the figure, put together the costume, and embellish.  A paper-clay face mask is included in the class kit, plus extra pattern pieces for variations on the finished costume and headdress.
Techniques students will learn:
  • Making design and fabric choices in costuming

  • Tricks to sewing and assembling a doll costume.

  • Making a wired “lampshade” hip skirt out of Timtex.

  • Embellishment tips

  • Creating accents and accessories.

One Day Workshop Goddess Icon

Class Duration:  one-day
Skill Level: All Levels
Kit fee $25.00
Class Description:  
   Students design and make their own icon/spirit doll in class, learning embellishing techniques to bring out the "Goddess" in you.  Students are given a blank Icon body (already stuffed), a clay face mask, and lace to paint and embellish. Students will leave with a completed 9" Goddess icon.

Techniques students will learn:

  • Painting on fabrics and lace with fabric paints and inks to create a watercolor effect.
  • Metallic painting and foiling on fabric
  • Beading and embellishing with cording, ribbon, fibers, and other trinkets.
